Flower Delivery Problems

My friend ordered flowers for his girlfriend's mother through one of the big nationwide shops. The local florist seemingly messed up and didn't deliver the arrangement. So he called to fix the problem and their remedy was to deliver the arrangement 3 days late and a credit of 15 bucks towards his next order with them. I can appreciate that they would like to ensure a future customer, but does this really provide a suitable remedy?
